Got in touch with Nicky as I needed to replace my roof. He came out exactly when he said he would and the job was completed on schedule, to a high standard, at a fair price. The scaffolding and skip were cleared as soon as the job was done.

What a re-roof involves
Roof replacement, from strip to sign-off
Six parts to the job. Every one of them is on the quote before the scaffold goes up, so nothing arrives as a surprise halfway through.

What we re-cover in
Slate, tile or flat system — the right answer depends on the building, the pitch and the budget. Here is what each one gives you.
Slate Re-Roof
The right answer for most of Glasgow's pre-war housing. Rebuilt properly it is a once-in-a-lifetime job rather than a recurring bill.
What you get
- Nail sickness solved for good
- Reclaimed slate matched where required
- New lead to every valley and abutment
- Sarking replaced where it has perished
In a conservation area we match slate size, colour and coursing so the finished roof reads as original.
Tiled Re-Roof
Faster and lighter on the budget than slate, and the sensible choice on the post-war housing it was designed for.
What you get
- Colour matched to the street
- Dry-fix ridge, hip and verge
- Breathable membrane throughout
- Old tiles taken away and recycled
Dry-fix ridges are mechanically fixed and ventilated — no mortar to crack loose in the first hard winter.
Flat Roof Renewal
New deck, proper falls and a covering chosen for the roof rather than for our convenience.
What you get
- Deck replaced, not covered over
- Firrings set to a genuine fall
- Seamless GRP or torch-on felt
- Outlets sized for heavy rainfall
Flat roofs fail at the edges long before the middle. Upstands, drips and outlets are where the time goes.
Roofline Renewal
The scaffold is already up, so replacing tired fascias and guttering during a re-roof costs a fraction of doing it as its own job later.
What you get
- Fascia, soffit and gutter replaced as a system
- Rotten timber removed, never capped over
- Downpipes and gully connections renewed
- Eaves ventilation built in
Worth doing at the same time. Coming back to it separately means paying for access twice.

Survey, quote, strip, rebuild
Four stages, each with something in writing at the end of it. You always know where the job is.
- 01
Survey, inside and out
We look at the roof and the loft. What is happening underneath decides the job as much as what you can see from the street.
- 02
An itemised written quote
Covering, membrane, battens, leadwork, scaffold and skip — all listed separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
- 03
Scaffold up, roof stripped
We agree a start date and stick to it. Once the covering is off you get photographs of the structure before anything is closed back up.
- 04
Re-covered and cleared
New roof on, scaffold and skip gone, and the site swept. You get the workmanship guarantee and the material warranties in writing.
No deposit taken to hold a date, and the price on the quote is the price on the invoice.

Why us for a re-roof
The price we quote is the price you pay
Roof replacement is where the cowboy stories come from — deposits taken, prices that climb, scaffold that appears on a second invoice. Here is how we avoid all of that.
-
Itemised, fixed pricing
Covering, membrane, battens, lead, scaffold and skip listed separately. The figure you agree is the figure on the invoice.
-
Nothing hidden once it is open
Structural problems get photographed and priced before we touch them. No work is ever added without you seeing why.
-
No deposit to hold a date
You pay on completion. If we are not there when we said, it has cost you nothing but patience.
-
Scaffold up and down by us
Access is our problem, not yours. It is in the price, and it goes as soon as the roof is signed off.

People who let us strip their roof off
Genuine reviews from re-roof customers. Nothing tidied up.
From start to finish I was delighted with the service provided. Quick quote, work done on time by great lads. We're delighted with our new roof. Not a penny paid until completion, very reasonably priced! Would definitely recommend.
Recently, we had our whole roof updated. NC Roofing's service was professional, friendly and reliable. They completed the job in a timely manner and to a very high standard. We are delighted with the service and outcome. Can't recommend enough!
NC Roofing replaced our aging tiles. Overall I am very happy with the roof. I can't think of any faults. Nicky and his team are very friendly. If you want your roof done I would definitely recommend NC Roofing.

Before you commit
What people ask before a re-roof
The questions we get on nearly every survey. If yours is not here, phone and ask.
What does a full roof replacement cost in Glasgow?
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the covering you choose, how much structural timber needs replacing, and the access required. That is why we survey before quoting rather than giving a figure over the phone. What we will commit to is that the written price is fixed — it does not move once the scaffold is up.
How long will my roof take?
A typical semi or terrace is around one to two weeks on the roof once the scaffold is up. A large detached property or a full tenement close can run to three or four. Weather adds days at this latitude, and we would rather tell you that up front than promise a date we cannot hold.
Is scaffolding included in the price?
Yes. Erection, hire period and removal are all in the quote. It is not a separate bill that appears later, and we do not sub the cost back to you if the job runs a few days over.
Do I actually need a full replacement, or will a repair do?
If a repair will genuinely hold, we will do the repair — a re-roof we talked you into is not worth the reputation. The honest test is whether you are fixing a defect or chasing a failing covering across the whole roof. If it is the second, you are paying twice.
Will you find extra work once the roof is open?
Sometimes, because nobody can see the structure until the covering comes off. When we do, we photograph it, price it, and show you before we touch it. Nothing gets added to your invoice that you have not seen and agreed.
Do I need to move out while the work is done?
No. The work is all external. You will hear it, and there will be a skip and scaffold for the duration, but the house stays liveable throughout. We sheet anything in the loft that needs protecting.
